Reddit: Where Real People Talk

Reddit is where millions of real people gather to talk, ask and debate across 100,000+ communities. From breaking news and footy to cricket, gaming, finance and every hobby in between, someone is already talking about it. Instead of following profiles, you join communities about the things you care about, and your feed follows your interests. What can you do on Reddit? On Reddit you read, post, comment and vote on conversations started by people across Australia and around the world. There's room for people who just want to keep up and for people who love jumping into the debate. Students, tradies, parents, gamers, sports fans and the endlessly curious swap stories and advice here every day. Everything on Reddit happens inside subreddits — What are subreddits? Subreddits are communities built around a specific topic, each with its own rules and volunteer moderators. A few that are popular with Australians: - r/AskAnAustralian: ask locals anything, from slang to settling in. - r/australia: news, culture and everyday chat about life down under. - r/AusFinance: real talk on super, property, budgeting and saving. - r/AustralianPolitics: a place to discuss and debate Aussie politics. - r/AskReddit, r/funny and r/worldnews: global conversations, daily laughs and live news discussion. Got questions? We've got you Is Reddit free? Yes. You can read, post, comment and join communities for free. Reddit Premium is an optional subscription. How do upvotes and karma work? Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit runs on upvotes and downvotes. Voting on posts and comments increases or decreases the creator's karma, helping popular and relevant posts rise to the top, while filtering out low-quality or irrelevant posts. Do I need karma to take part? Not to get started. Some communities require karma to post or comment, which helps maintain content quality and community standards. Do I need an account to use Reddit? Not to read most communities. To post, comment, vote and join communities, just create a free account. How do I find communities I'm into? Use search or browse the suggestions in the app. Once you join a few communities, your feed starts showing more of what you like.
