Most "clean beauty" apps read a barcode and hand you somebody else's verdict. Cosmetics Scanner reads the ingredients list on the back of the jar and scores it against YOU — your skin, your allergies, and your situation right now. HOW IT WORKS 1. Point the camera at the INGREDIENTS list. We capture it for you — no perfect framing required. 2. We recognize every INCI name on the label, and you can fix any word we misread. 3. You get a score out of 100, the reason behind it, and the exact ingredients that pulled it down. BUILT AROUND YOUR RULES, NOT AVERAGES Before the camera ever opens, we ask four short questions: who you are choosing products for, how your skin behaves, what you already react to, and what a doctor has named. From those answers we build a set of rules you can see and switch off one by one — "no fragrance", "pregnancy limits", "child's eczema". Change a rule and your last scan is recalculated in front of you: a product that scored 51 can drop to 34 because of a single ingredient you cannot use. WHY THE INGREDIENTS AND NOT THE BARCODE A barcode gives you a rating averaged over everyone. The same formula can be excellent for oily skin and wrong for a pregnancy. Only the ingredients list tells you which one you are holding. WHAT WE USE INCI names are matched against CosIng, the European Commission's cosmetic ingredient database, and against Annexes II-VI of Regulation 1223/2009 — the lists of substances that are prohibited, restricted, or allowed only as colorants, preservatives, and UV filters. Anything you tell us you react to counts as high risk regardless of what the regulation permits.
