About
CatchLight is the back office for a photographer who already has a gallery platform and doesn't want a second one.
It holds the things you look up between sessions and on the day: who your clients are, what you're shooting and when, what you've been paid and spent, the poses you always mean to remember, your notes, and what you're aiming at this year.
Your data stays yours Everything lives on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, and syncs between them through your own iCloud account. No account to make, no server of ours to trust, and it all works with no signal. Export a full backup any time, open JSON plus your photos as ordinary JPEGs, not a format only this app can read.
Clients Names, every email and phone number, social profiles, birthdays and anniversaries, how they found you, and everything you've shot for them in one place. Import your address book, a CSV or a vCard, with duplicates flagged before anything lands. Coming Up lists the dates worth a session in the next six weeks.
Shoots Date, place, length, status and fee, with each deposit and balance tracked to the day it arrives. Inquiries that go quiet are flagged for a follow-up, and ones that didn't book keep the reason. A to-do list for each stage, the gallery link and the date you promised it, and what the client agreed their photos may be used for. Mini-session days split into timed slots, booked client by client.
Money Income as it's received, expenses with receipt photos, and mileage, for a shoot or for the business. A yearly summary shows profit, what's still owed and which lead sources book. And Export for Taxes hands your accountant one spreadsheet.
Inventory Your cameras, lenses, lights and props, and the stock you keep on hand, with serial numbers read straight off a photo of the label, prices, warranties and photos of each. And the total an insurer asks for, exported as a spreadsheet. Sold or stolen gear stays on record.
Reminders and your calendar The evening before a shoot, a payment due, an inquiry to follow up, a gallery due, a client's anniversary coming up. Booked shoots can live on a CatchLight calendar beside your own.
On the day Session mode puts the shoot's pose checklist full screen, with the reference photo and what to say for each pose, on a dark screen that won't glare at dusk, and keeps it awake. The Lock Screen keeps the time and the next pose while you're in the camera. Every shoot shows its light: golden hour, sunset and twilight for the place and date, with the session drawn against them and how much of it falls in golden hour.
A pose library that earns its place Save the poses you want to remember, with up to five reference photos and a prompt each. Save a photo onto a pose straight from another app's share sheet. Start from written packs for couples, families, senior portraits, headshots, models and dating profiles, and share a set with another photographer. Templates start a shoot with its usual poses, gear list and fee.
Private when it needs to be Lock CatchLight with Face ID. Mark a client Discreet and their name stays off notifications, the calendar and the Lock Screen.
On your home screen A widget for the next shoot: when, where, and the light it falls in and one counting what's waiting on you with what you're owed under it. A discreet client's shoot says only "Session".
Ask Siri "What's my next shoot", "Add an expense" and "Log a payment" work from Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight.
Free, in full Every feature is in the free version, limited only by volume: 20 clients, 20 shoots a calendar year, 20 poses, 20 templates, 20 notes, 20 goals and 20 inventory items. Expenses and mileage are never limited, and past years never count against this year.
CatchLight Pro $19.99 a year lifts every limit. It unlocks no features, because there aren't any to unlock. The free plan has them all.
